The Columbus Collaboratory is seeking a Data Scientist to be a part of its Advanced Analytics team, serving the Members of the Collaboratory such as American Electric Power, Battelle, Cardinal Health, Huntington National Bank, L Brands, Nationwide, and OhioHealth.

  • Complete data science projects from the beginning to end, including data preparation, modeling and delivery
  • Translate findings into actionable insights
  • Partner with Member’s IT organizations throughout implementation process
  • Proactively research new tools and techniques
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team with individuals across a variety of disciplines
  • Balance effort across multiple projects and priorities
  • Partner with business leaders through a consultative approach

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in at least one syntax-based analytics programming language such as R, SAS, Python, or Stata
  • Ability to prep and munge data from a variety of structures
  • Desire to utilize and embrace open source programming languages
  • Demonstrated an ability to work with messy, real-world data sets
  • Possess a master's level understanding of statistical concepts and techniques
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and acquire new skills above and beyond what was required
  • Able to function in an ambiguous environment, managing one's own work and delivery requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in TensorFlow, Caffe, or similar library
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages
  • Experience with compiled languages such as C, C++ or Fortran
  • Experience creating reports/dashboards through Shiny, Plotly, etc.
  • Experience with packaging discrete units of software (e.g., R packages)
  • Experience with building custom statistical models and inference algorithms
  • Exposure to product development process
  • Advanced degree in an analytical subject such as statistics, math, economics, physics or computer science
