The Midwest Health Collaborative (MHC) is an alliance of health systems that is transforming healthcare to deliver value and improved outcomes for the residents and employers of Ohio and surrounding regions. At the core of MHC is data-driven population health that is informing clinical best practices and value-based contracting. MHC is looking for a Healthcare Data Analyst to provide best-in-class insights and reporting that will drive decision-making at MHC members. This individual will be highly analytical and thrive in a team-based, entrepreneurial environment.

Initial responsibilities will focus on the analysis of claims data for things like cost and utilization management, gaps in care, and contract performance. Analyses will extend to clinical EHR and third party data over time. Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement repeatable workflows for reporting and analysis
  • Perform ad hoc analyses and interpret results to inform clinical and financial decision-making
  • Create compelling presentations with data visualizations to communicate insights to technical and executive stakeholders
  • Work with business and technical stakeholders to gather detailed requirements for use cases
  • Think creatively about how business processes are represented by data
  • Educate Member System analysts on best practices with the analytic tools


  • 3+ years experience as a data analyst
  • Strong technical skills with business acumen
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Preferred skills

  • Experience working in healthcare knowledge of claims terminology and workflows a plus
  • Experience with Milliman MedInsight
  • Familiarity with a visualization tool like Tableau or Qlik
  • Experience with OptumOne
  • Familiarity with SQL
